Our Methodology

How we approach our work

Before offering a view, we try to understand what is actually happening. That sounds obvious, but it is rarer than it should be in consulting work.

We begin by reading what exists and listening to the people involved. We do not arrive with a diagnosis before we have heard the history.

Observe carefully

We pay attention to what is working as well as what is not. Good observations acknowledge nuance rather than flattening it into a simple problem.

Reflect honestly

We share what we have found in writing, with enough context to be useful. We do not soften difficult observations, but we frame them with care.

People Practice Review

A considered look at how your organisation currently approaches the full arc of employee experience โ€” from how people first hear about you through to how they leave. We read through existing policies, hold conversations with HR colleagues and a sample of staff, and observe a handful of team rituals.

The outcome is a narrative report offering observations rather than prescriptions, with a set of questions the leadership team may wish to sit with. Suited to organisations between fifty and five hundred staff.

Compensation Structure Review

A careful examination of how pay is currently organised within your business, undertaken with sensitivity to both the numbers and the conversations around them. We work with your HR and finance teams to map existing bands, benchmark against a small set of comparable firms, and identify places where the structure may benefit from gentle adjustment.

Deliverables include a written review, a set of working tables, and a facilitated conversation with leadership about possible next steps. Typically delivered over four to six weeks.

Difficult Conversation Preparation

A shorter engagement for managers or business owners preparing for a sensitive conversation with a team member: a performance concern, a role change, or a departure. We offer a confidential space to prepare, including a structured preparation session, a short written outline of points to cover, and the option of a debrief conversation afterwards.

The work is framed around respect for both parties and the longer-term health of the team. Two sessions of one hour each.
